About this speaker
Matthew is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Mary Seacole Housing Association an organisation founded in the mid-80,s in response to the growing number of homeless young people in the area of Luton. During his time at the Association, he has served in various roles, which included a 2-year secondment working within the Local Authorities Housing Solutions team where he managed their support services for people in temporary accommodation. The various roles have provided insight into the grass-root issues affecting young people at risk and influenced by a lack of settled accommodation.
Matthew has worked on several commissioned projects with the Youth Offending Service and Bedfordshire Violence Exploitation Reduction Unit. These youth-led projects focus on the intervention and support of young people who face multiple disadvantages. He is passionate about his role and has seen the impact the service makes to individuals lives.
Matthew is also the current Chair of the Luton Homeless Partnership a group of over 15 services and individuals in Bedfordshire working together locally to help people experiencing homelessness. He is passionate about participation and representations from young people with lived experience of homelessness to co-design and improves service delivery outcomes for service users and stakeholders.
