About this speaker
John first started work in this field 20 years ago and believe it or not he had his first Job interview in a pub in Staleybridge in Manchester. John’s friend worked at a project in Hattersley in Hyde with 12 floors and 60 residents and its reputation was so bad no one would work there. Needless to say he said ‘yes’. From that day to this, John’s career has seen him as a Supported Housing Officer in a Substance misuse reduction project, a prison housing link worker based at HMP Manchester and also tenancy support providing community based support.
John joined YPSF 8 years ago on the then 16-17 team working with children who were homeless or at risk. He then moved into a senior post on the Homelessness prevention Team which has led him to successfully securing his current role of Service Manager for Housing and Support.
John has had over 20 years in this field… and he’s happy to say he has as much belief in the need for these services as he did in day.
